We Must Remain The Wildhearted Outsiders
Last week I watched We Must Remain the Wildhearted Outsiders, a full length film by Chase Lisbon.
I watched it three times that day, once alone, once with my partner, and alone again. Alone, the first time, my heart was in my throat for the entirety. Ten minutes in I found myself crying and scrawling notes like “you want to fall in love with her, she is a void”
This film creeps up on you, though you will think it threw itself at you at first. You won’t be sure of exactly when it happens but you will likely find that if you watch the entire thing, at some point it will actually lodge itself inside of you. It is ominous, dark, confusing and often sad and desperate. Sensual comes last, despite the nudity and overt sexuality.
The beginning is soaking wet in a way that gives the impression of a cleanse. It is akin to a type of bathing ritual which will leave you feeling dirty if not properly executed. The girls move well, but are obviously performing. There is an unnatural spell woven by the way they undress and touch each other that might make you feel sick. Their raw beauty and eroticism may balance it out somehow if you allow it, however.
Such attention to detail is paid that one might have to know, despite the lack of verbal dialogue, that this is a very personal film. The way she holds her breath here, the dust on the camera there, an insect where it doesn’t belong will shake you out of your trance and make you feel uneasy. The transitions show another way of counting time: patterns in ceilings, linoleum, and wall papering push you deeper and deeper into the story until you, too lose track of where you are. There is a god battle and you have been drafted and are somewhere in the trenches- but you can make your own mind up about who will win.
If you enjoy beautiful women, strange lighting, compelling music, and artistic styling then this film may show itself to you.- Maddy Ferguson

Lauren wk for Mantrap1989.com photo by shannon brooke. Makeup / Hair Jennifer corona
In a small mountain top church in Swiss Alps, i took this photo for laurenwk with her Polaroid camera. The setting sun set the inside of the church ablaze with an intensely orange earthy glow. Outside a herd of grazing cows filled the air with a cacophony of cowbells.
It was chilly, getting late and we still hadn’t found anywhere to stay that night, so we had to be quick. Unfortunately the Polaroid failed.. twice. I quickly snapped this pic with my iphone and we made our way down the mountain.
